Announcing Cinema Ownership Change

Spring Grove Communications Board of Directors is excited to announce the sale of the Spring Grove Cinema, a cherished community asset, to Lucas Hall, a passionate and community-minded entrepreneur.

This marks an exciting new chapter for the Spring Grove Cinema, continuing its contribution to the vitality of downtown Spring Grove. Spring Grove Communications investment in the cinema has always been rooted in commitment to providing a space for entertainment, connection, and

cultural experiences. We couldn’t be more thrilled to pass the torch to someone who shares that same vision and enthusiasm for small-town life.

“The decision to sell the Spring Grove Cinema wasn’t made lightly,” said David Morken, Board President of Spring Grove Communications. “Our hope has been this cherished venue continues to thrive and serve as a gathering place for residents. We’re confident that Lucas Hall, and the new business he will be adding to the Spring Grove Cinema will bring fresh energy to this beloved local treasure.”

Lucas Hall has already begun planning ways to make the cinema a hub of activity and enjoyment for the community. With a background in fine arts from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and many years in carpentry, Lucas Hall brings a unique perspective and dedication to ensuring that the Spring Grove Cinema remains a vibrant part of our downtown. Luke is working closely with Spring Grove schools to bring student-led film projects into the space as well as documentary screenings, and entrepreneurial training for students. He is also partnering with the Activate Rural Spaces Committee to bring a diverse range of activities that cater to all ages and interests, including film festivals, art exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.

“I’m honored to take on this opportunity,” said Lucas Hall. “I’m eager to work with the community to create a welcoming space where everyone can come together and share unforgettable experiences.”

“I have spoken to many residents, and I have heard that there is a need for a community gathering space. They want a coffee shop, a comfortable place to hang out, but also a versatile space to host events. I want this space to be exactly that,” says Lucas Hall.

As part of this transition, Spring Grove Cinema will temporarily close its doors to allow Lucas Hall the necessary time to get organized and begin implementing his vision for the venue. A reopening date will be announced in the coming weeks, and the community can look forward to exciting updates coming soon.
